Changes

Key:  Additions   Deletions
Our final list of MJ advancer stories will go here:

Candidates
1. (x2) Portraits of DC candidates - Anna + Bob (Please focus on people who aren't in the media spotlight and try to discover issues that aren't conventional wisdom in the press, but which you think are important. Lots of action shots and photo-essay material. Maybe there are some "day in the life of a candidate" opportunities. - RM)

2. Young candidates: why so much "young blood" this time? - Tia

Party Politics

3. (x2) How candidates campaign - tactics, etc. (individual vs. party?) - Violet + Tracy

4. (x2) DAB vs. Pan Democrats - (Will the DAB do better this time, as everybody seems to be predicting? What are their strengths and what are their greatest weaknesses with the voters? Is the conventional wisdom about the weakness of pan-democrats in local politics correct? What are the pan-democrats greatest strengths and weaknesses? -RM) - Jojo & Greg

6.5. (x2) Voter concerns (Please focus on people who aren't in the media spotlight and try to discover new things that the local media hasn't noticed or discovered yet. Also, in addition to photographing the people you talk to, be sure to take photographs that illustrate the things voters are concerned about - i.e., if somebody is worried about the trash behind their apartment, take a photograph that helps us understand why this is such a concern to them. - RM) - Naomi + Sudalina

7.6. Motivation: Voter participation, how they make decisions, etc. How ballots impact the voting process? To what extent are ppl voting on local issues or party/big political views? (Your challenge here is to find events and elements that you can photograph and show visually. You may also consider using statistics and creating a couple charts and graphs RM.) - Maggie

Issues
8.7. Heritage - Sydney (Make sure you find an angle on this which relates very directly to the DC election - interview candidates of different parties about it, etc.RM

How DC's work

9.8. The role of DCouncilor's in a community (Wanchai) - Denise

10.9. History of the DC's over time and how things have changed (This story is probably ripe for some kind of chart or graph with data illustrating changes over time. You may also need to look into getting permissions to use historical photos. Have a think about these things and plan in advance - and let me and Ben know if you need help. ) - Julia

11.10. Future of the DC's (This is also ripe for some kind of chart or graphic showing statistically how things have changed over time, or a "before" and "after" box in which you list the functions of the DC pre-2008 and 2008-onwards. RM) - Sunny

Implications
12.11. What will the implications be of the DC election results? (This is an important analysis piece but you'll need to get creative in thinking about how to illustrate it visually with people, places, events, and situations. Also think if there is comparative data or if there are lists that you might want to display as a bullet-point box or graphic. -RM) - Dayle

Meta-story
13.12. How the media covers the election - Carol
(how Chan-Ip fight affects coverage)
